Why these work.
Often in a panic we resort to "call your dog back" or some variation thereof.
It is really helpful to give other owners some context and to clearly state what you need them to do. This messaging takes blame away from either party and clearly communicates what you need. It helps dog parents who don't understand to know really clearly what you need.
Asking people to call their dog back can sometimes put them on the defence. They don't want to feel there is something wrong with their dog.
We don't want to stop their dogs having fun.
We're not suggesting their dogs are awful.
WE JUST NEED SPACE.
So say it loud and proud in our awareness clothing.
And always remember, you're an incredible best friend.
